WHY I BUILT THIS

“There has to be a better way.”

You know that moment when you're watching a movie with your family and your finger is hovering over the forward button like you're trying to stop a nuclear launch?

Yeah. That's me.

I come from a family where I have to intensely hover over the forward button just in case a kissing scene suddenly pops up. If you understand what I mean, then you already get the gist of it.

And it's not just family movie nights. I also avoid watching certain movies and series in public. Not because I dislike them — quite the opposite. Some of my favorites are Lucifer, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Boys.

The problem? I don't enjoy being judged by random strangers sitting next to me. Imagine watching your favorite show on a train when suddenly a scene appears that makes everyone around you think you're watching something completely different.

At that point you're not enjoying the story anymore. You're fighting for your reputation.

After years of developing reflexes faster than competitive gamers, I thought: there has to be a better way. And thus, SceneSkip was born.

WHAT IS SCENESKIP

SceneSkip is a crowdsourced platform that helps viewers identify timestamps for scenes they may want to skip. It also comes with a browser extension that automatically skips those scenes in real time — no manual fast-forwarding required.

IMDbbut for skippable scenes
Wazebut for awkward moments
Community Notesbut for your viewing experience
SponsorBlockbut for content, not ads
THE GOAL ISN'T CENSORSHIP.
THE GOAL IS CHOICE.

HOW IT WORKS

The idea is simple.

01
WATCH
People watch movies, TV shows, and anime on their usual streaming platforms.
02
SPOT
When they encounter a scene worth flagging, they note the timestamp, category, and a short description.
03
SUBMIT
That data goes into the SceneSkip database, reviewed and approved by the community.
04
SKIP
Future viewers with the extension installed get those scenes skipped automatically — or see them flagged to decide for themselves.

No complicated AI. No magic. Just people helping people avoid awkward situations, save time, and enjoy content the way they want.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT

1
Watch With Family Without Living in Fear
No more sitting there repeating "please don't be a kissing scene" under your breath. SceneSkip tells you when those scenes occur so you can decide what to do before disaster strikes.
2
Watch in Public Comfortably
You shouldn't need to calculate risk levels before opening your favorite show. Enjoy the story without worrying about becoming the main character in a public embarrassment arc.
3
Skip the Boring Stuff Too
Anime recaps, long intros, long outros, filler episodes, Bollywood songs that pause the plot. If it doesn't affect your enjoyment of the story, you can skip it.
4
Save Time
Life is short. If a scene adds nothing to the story and you don't want to watch it, why shouldn't you have the option to skip it?

THE CATEGORIES

SEX & NUDITY
Contains sexual content or nudity. The category responsible for most panic-induced fast-forwarding.
VIOLENCE & GORE
Graphic violence, disturbing injuries, gore, or other intense visual content. Not everyone wants to watch somebody lose three limbs before breakfast.
FILLERS
Intros, outros, recaps, anime filler sequences, Bollywood songs that don't affect the plot, episodes where absolutely nothing happens. The anime community understands this better than anyone.
OTHERS
Drug use, suggestive content, obscene conversations, kissing scenes, and everything else that doesn't fit neatly above. Basically the 'it doesn't belong anywhere else' category.

WHERE IT WORKS

SceneSkip currently works across a wide range of streaming platforms, both official and independent — including JioHotstar, YouTube, and most major sites.

// NETFLIX

Netflix uses its own proprietary native player, which requires significantly more development work to support properly. It's on the roadmap. Just not there yet.

HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

SceneSkip is only as good as the community behind it.

SUBMIT TIMESTAMPS

SPEED OF A FORMULA 1 DRIVER
JUST TO WATCH A MOVIE WITH THEIR PARENTS.

SceneSkip isn't about judging what people watch. Some people want the full experience. Some want to skip specific scenes. Some are watching with family. Some are watching in public. Some just want to skip filler and get back to the plot.

Whatever your reason is, SceneSkip exists to make that possible.
